Patient Safety provides information and resources to support health care workers with experience at all levels to develop their knowledge and understanding of patient safety issues.
Welcome to Patient Safety
Three 'Quality Ambitions' (Person-Centred, Safe and Effective) provide the focus for everything NHSScotland does in its aim to deliver the best quality healthcare to the people of Scotland and, through this, make NHSScotland a world leader in healthcare quality.
The vast majority of health care workers are hard-working, dedicated professionals who go to work with the intention of delivering high quality, safe care to their patients.
In Patient Safety you will find:
- Background information on patient safety and its importance in healthcare improvement
- Tools and techniques for checking safety issues, implementing care practices and dealing with incidents
- Educational resources including publications, websites, initiatives and training offered by NHS Education for Scotland
The NES Patient Safety Multi-Disciplinary Group (PSMG) commissioned a stakeholder consultation, the results of which highlighted the critical importance of continuing education and training in patient safety.
