Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is an important healthcare associated infection which causes symptoms ranging from diarrhoea to life threatening inflammation of the colon. CDI is associated with considerable morbidity and risk of mortality and is categorised as an important public health issue and therefore prevention is essential.
