In the fight against healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), Domestic Services staff play a key role in maintaining cleanliness standards within the hospital environment to reduce infections to patients. Evidence has suggested that even though hand hygiene is the number one way to prevent the spread of infections, the main protection against environmental contamination and subsequent HAI is appropriate housekeeping.
